Web Front End to Sun Systems - Accounting Solution (FINANCE)

One of Computime’s major software development projects to date was the development of a browser-based front end to SunSystems from Systems Union, which had the working title "i2i". i2i interfaces with SunSystems through Systems Union’s XML-driven e-Business gateway.

Designing and developing a product intended for distribution and first line support by a third party, rather than directly by the developers, and to be implemented at clients with immensely varying needs, presented many new challenges to the team. For example, functional testing had to be extremely rigorous, and extensive stress testing carried out, in order to gauge performance under different conditions and to provide the scalability that the market demands.

i2i was designed, developed and tested totally in-house, using the very latest techniques and technologies, such as UML and Java. It is totally platform independent, capable of running on different operating systems such as Windows NT, Windows 2000, Linux and other versions of Unix. It also supports the two most popular database platforms, Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. The intellectual property rights in i2i were acquired by Systems Union in April 2001 and onward development and support of i2i is now controlled by Systems Union.
