Central Bank

Following stiff competition, the Central Bank of Malta selected Computime for the design, installation, commissioning and subsequent support of its state-of-the-art network. The project, divided into four phases, catered for the migration of the existing Token Ring infrastructure to a fast Ethernet network with a Gigabit Ethernet backbone. The solution presented to the Bank was based on Cisco enterprise grade chassis workgroup switches. The chassis provides for the Gigabit technology used to connecting the workgroup switches and servers directly on the backbone switch. Computime were also involved in the tightly integration of the corporate servers with the network through gigabit connectivity in a manner which optimises the network-server functionality.

The new network relieved the Bank of bottlenecks and offered assurance that this critical IT component can carry is compatible with its demanding business requirements.

The strict Internet security requirements normally associated with organisations such as the Central Bank of Malta were also handled by Computime. VPN and Bandwidth Management elements ensure that Internet connectivity is made further secure and that expensive resources such as bandwidth is used effectively and in a controlled manner.

Computime was also selected to design, supply and commission the multimedia cabling infrastructure at one of their main sites. A certified Cat 5 system, it is a future-proof system capable of carrying gigabit data over copper and fibre.
